Seeking therapy can be such a vulnerable experience when you don’t know what to expect, so I believe it’s incredibly important to find a therapist that you can really connect with. My interpersonal style is warm, approachable, and authentic (sometimes using humor when it’s appropriate, and sharing my genuine observations when requested), and I view collaboration and transparency as being two key elements for facilitating any kind of change or personal growth. I understand it is so important to create a safe and non-judgmental environment so that you're comfortable being candid and open about your expectations/concerns, the thoughts and worries that take up a lot of 'mental space' in your daily life, and the goals for what you truly want work on in your therapy sessions.
I use evidence-based interventions in my practice, with my Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) as my primary approach. Based on extensive clinical research, CBT has been viewed as the “gold standard” treatment for various mental health issues such as anxiety disorders, depression, relationship issues, eating disorders, and substance use disorders. I also specialize in working with clients who have experienced trauma, and I am certified in providing PTSD and trauma-focused treatments including Prolonged Exposure (PE) and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT). I am trained in and use other evidence-based interventions as well, and those are listed below.
Ultimately, I want to help you approach your goals in a collaborative and solution-focused way, I'm eager to help you identify and use your existing strengths to find more balance in your life, and I want to provide you with effective tools to decrease anxiety, increase self-confidence, improve your mood, and learn more effectively ways to communicate your needs and boundaries to others. I also want to reinforce new tools to help you recognize and challenge any unhelpful thought patterns so you can feel empowered to essentially become your own therapist in the future.
